What to Bring & Wear for Dance Class

Bring a water bottle, it’s great for hydration and helps with less spills. We don’t have a water fountain so please come prepared. NO sugary drinks please.

Wear something comfortable that you can stretch in. Please NO crop tops or short shorts. No jeans! Stretching is part of warm up and wearing clothing that keeps our bodies warm is very helpful not to strain our muscles. Best to have layers of clothing so you can shed pieces when needed.

Shoe options to wear: ballet shoes, jazz shoes, or tennis shoes for Hip Hop. We will be changing genres of dance often so a shoe that will help you not slip is key. You can wear socks too, though they can be slippery it’s better if they have grips on the bottom. Foot thongs (invisible glove for the foot) are good too if you want some grip but don’t like shoes. You do not need a pair of shoe for every genre. Barre foot is an ok fall back if you’re uncertain, but this can be uncomfortable for new dancers.

Bring a dance bag! It’s great to keep your shoes, water bottle, after class snacks and a change of cloths in. Plus dance bags helps keep your things in one place and less spread out in a space we need for dancing.

No jewelry! You will be asked to remove excess necklaces, rings and earrings if they are impairing you from moving. We will be moving around on the floor and we don’t want to hurt ourselves or others if our jewelry breaks.

Personal hygiene counts for classes like this. We will be in a space with a handful of people. So let’s help each other and stay up to date on our hygiene.

Health is also important. If you have any serious health problems or high blood pressure problems please talk to your doctor first before participating. Dance and Aerial are very physically demanding and I would suggest to not participate if you have serious health conditions.

Students will be required to sign a liability waiver and provide an emergency contact before participating in class.

Parents please stay outside of the classroom. If your child has a problem they can come meet you outside of class. If you have a question or concern please address it with the instructor before or after class, not during.

We will have show and tell days, where parents can come in and see what we have been working on. Please wait to be invited in. Thank you :)
